CAR, Aptech installs solar for communities

Key Figures & Findings: Aptech Africa a renewable energy developer active across multiple African countries, designed the systems to support both essential services and local economic activity, has completed the installation of solar power systems in the Central African Republic (CAR), one of the countries with the world’s lowest electrification rates. The new systems were deployed in Kaga Bandoro and Bouar, where communities, health centers, and businesses have long relied on costly diesel generators and faced frequent power outages, marking a major step toward addressing CAR’s chronic energy gap.

Statistics & Insights: The project included 48 Master Power solar panels (455Wp each), 48 Upower OPzV 2V-1500Ah batteries, three Sunny Island battery inverters, a 15kW STP X converter, and management equipment to ensure reliable operation. These installations now provide an uninterrupted power supply for community services.

Future Implications: If replicated more widely, these solar systems could strengthen healthcare delivery, expand digital learning in schools, and help local businesses extend operations, improving overall quality of life in underserved CAR communities by 2030.

Quick Take: Aptech Africa’s solar rollout in CAR is delivering reliable power to health centers, schools, and businesses in regions long underserved by the grid.
