Egypt Completes 650MW GOS II Wind Farm

Key Figures & Findings: Egypt has completed the 650MW GOS II Wind Farm in the Gulf of Suez, marking a major milestone in its renewable energy expansion. EWA Group played a crucial role in heavy-lift transport and logistics, ensuring the safe delivery of 104 wind turbines, each requiring the movement of up to 11 oversized components. The project aligns with Egypt’s commitment to achieving 14GW of wind energy by 2030, cutting carbon emissions, and increasing reliance on clean energy.

Statistics & Insights: As of 2021, Egypt had 1,375MW of operational wind power, with a target of 5 billion kWh of electricity from wind energy by 2025. The GOS II Wind Farm will significantly boost Egypt’s clean energy output and contribute to reducing fossil fuel dependence.

Future Implications: The completion of this wind farm could attract further investment into Egypt’s renewable sector and accelerate infrastructure development for large-scale wind projects.
