Egypt’s ACO, IRSC Launch Solar

Key Figures & Findings: Arab Consulting Office (ACO), one of Egypt’s oldest and most influential engineering consultancies, has formalized a strategic agreement with IRSC for Renewable Energy Solutions to roll out 75 MW of new solar photovoltaic projects. The deal, sealed on April 24, 2025, also enlists China’s Sungrow Power Supply, the world’s leading inverter brand by shipments, and Tongwei Solar, a heavyweight in high-efficiency solar module manufacturing. Eng. Aya Zanaty, President of ACO, stated that the partnership “marks a new chapter” for Egypt’s clean energy ambitions. This new collaboration aligns with Egypt’s broader energy pivot, highlighted by large-scale projects like the 1.65 GW Benban Solar Park and recent moves to lessen reliance on fossil fuels amid rising energy security concerns.
Statistics & Insights: The project will contribute toward Egypt’s national objective of raising renewable energy to 42% of its electricity mix by 2030. Egypt’s renewable energy installed capacity currently surpasses 6 GW, largely fueled by solar and wind projects.
Future Implications: If completed as planned, the new solar capacity could enter service by late 2026, helping Egypt reduce its dependency on natural gas imports. The success of this collaboration could also encourage further private sector participation in Egypt’s clean energy development beyond 2026.
