Entech, Voltalia Axian Launch Solar+Storage

Key Figures & Findings: Entech has partnered with France’s Voltalia and Axian Energy, one of Africa’s fastest-rising energy investors,  to deliver Senegal’s first solar-plus-storage power plant in Casamance. The project, structured under a full EPC contract, marks a strategic pivot toward decentralised energy resilience in southern Senegal — a region historically underserved by national grid infrastructure. Voltalia, with a track record across 20+ countries, will oversee design and construction, while Entech brings technical leadership in storage integration. This project is the first of its kind in Senegal’s southern region to feature co-located solar-plus-storage, a key milestone for the country’s energy diversification plans.

Statistics & Insights: The Casamance plant will deliver 60 MW of solar capacity and 90 MWh of storage and is expected to be operational by 2026.

Future Implications: If delivered on time, the project could serve as a benchmark for solar-storage integration in West Africa’s grid-fragile zones. Its success may also accelerate private sector investment into large-scale battery-backed solar systems across the Sahel region.
