Genesis, Desert Tech Advance African Solar

Key Figures & Findings: Genesis Energy Holding, a leading Pan-African clean energy developer, and Desert Technologies Industries Factory CJSC, a Saudi-based company that specializes in modular solar infrastructure, have signed a strategic collaboration agreement to jointly deploy renewable energy projects across Africa. The deal was finalized at the 27th Africa Energy Forum in Barcelona and follows an MoU signed earlier this year in Dubai by Genesis Chairman Akinwole II Omoboriowo and Desert Technologies CEO Khaled Sharbatly. Under the partnership, Genesis will serve as the preferred African distributor of Desert Technologies’ Sahara system—containerised solar-plus-storage modules tailored for rapid off-grid deployment. The collaboration aims to expand access to reliable energy for underserved communities, supporting mini-grid and utility-scale rollouts
Statistics & Insights: Genesis brings a pipeline exceeding 4.5 GW, with over 458 MW in operation or under construction. The partners plan to explore project-specific joint ventures and financing models, including credit access from Saudi EXIM Bank and other global export agencies.
Future Implications: If deployment begins by early 2026, the partnership could bring modular solar systems to remote African communities. The collaboration may also serve as a blueprint for future public-private clean energy frameworks in Africa.
