IBC SOLAR Expands Across Africa

Key Figures & Findings: IBC SOLAR, a leading German provider of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems, has acquired a majority stake in SOLARWORLD Africa as part of its strategy to scale operations across the continent. The acquisition follows a partnership established in 2022 and marks a critical step in IBC’s long-term ambition to deepen its reach into Africa’s residential, commercial, and industrial solar segments. According to IBC CSO Patrik Danz, the merger strengthens South Africa’s solar supply chain and supports decentralised power generation amid rising electricity prices and grid instability. SOLARWORLD Africa, with over 40 years of experience and strong local market knowledge, will transition into full IBC ownership after a two-year handover period.
