Jinko Solar Backs Angola Solar Project

Key Figures & Findings: Jinko Solar has been announced as the exclusive module supplier for the Quilemba Solar Project, a major private-sector initiative in Angola’s southern Huila Province. Developed by Quilemba Solar Lda—a joint venture between TotalEnergies (51%), state oil company Sonangol (30%), and Maurel & Prom (19%)—this project marks a significant leap in Angola’s energy diversification strategy. Jinko Solar, recognized globally for its high-efficiency N-Type modules, will supply all photovoltaic equipment for the project’s first phase, further solidifying its presence in Africa’s utility-scale solar market.
Statistics & Insights: The plant will generate 35 MWp in its initial phase, with a potential expansion of 45 MWp. Once operational in 2026, the facility is expected to power 40,000 homes.
Future Implications: If fully realized, Quilemba could strengthen Angola’s renewable energy mix and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels by mid-2026. The project may also catalyze further public-private collaboration in Southern Africa’s clean energy transition.
