Keetmanshoop Expands Electrification In Namibia

Key Figures & Findings: The Keetmanshoop municipality has launched the N$6.3 million Tseiblaagte Extension 7, Phase 2 electrification project to enhance infrastructure and service delivery. Mayor Annelize Knaus highlighted the success of the previous N$4 million electrification of Tseiblaagte Extension 1, Phase 1, which enabled new homes and households. Dinoco Investment CC is executing the project, with Engco Engineers providing technical oversight. Additionally, a free prepaid meter conversion initiative has been introduced, allowing residents to switch from conventional meters at no cost.
Statistics & Insights: The electrification project will support economic growth, improve living standards, and enhance the municipality's infrastructure. Meanwhile, the installation of three new high-mast lights in key areas aims to increase public safety by addressing dark spots in the community.
Future Implications: If successfully completed by June 2025, the project could set a precedent for further electrification efforts in the region, attracting future investments in infrastructure and energy accessibility.
