Morocco and MGH Unveil Renewable Project
Key Figures & Findings: European-based MGH Energy, specializing in providing engineering solutions for the global energy sector operating through its subsidiary MGH Energy Maroc, has launched the initial phase of its renewable fuel project, Janassim, in Morocco’s Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region. Partnering with the Moroccan firm Greenard, MGH has begun a two-year campaign to measure solar and wind energy potential using two 120-meter-high towers. Known for its commitment to sustainable fuel solutions, MGH Energy plans to support Morocco’s ambitious green hydrogen goals, leveraging the Janassim project to contribute to the country’s decarbonization objectives and economic growth within the region.
Statistics & Insights: With an investment of approximately $5 billion, the Janassim project aims to establish 2.2 MW of renewable capacity, projected to produce 500,000 tons of renewable fuel annually
Future Implications: If completed as planned, Janassim could help Morocco significantly in renewable fuel production by 2026, while serving as a model for similar projects across North Africa. The development may also foster greater energy independence for Morocco amidst Western Sahara’s complex territorial discussions.
