Nabrawind Advances Diaz Wind Farm

Key Figures & Findings: Nabrawind Technologies, a Spanish company focused on the design, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of advanced technologies for wind turbine components. has introduced its innovative Nabrabase solution for four turbine foundations at the existing Diaz wind farm in Namibia This wind farm, located near Lüderitz, is managed by French Independent Power Producer (IPP) Innovent, which has been active in Namibia This solution aims to help address the challenges of rocky terrain and limited water resources in the Lüderitz region with 80% less concrete and significantly less steel. The Diaz wind farm, operated by French IPP Innovent, showcases Nabrawind’s commitment to advancing renewable energy efficiency in challenging conditions.
Statistics & Insights:
The wind farm consists of 11 turbines producing 44 MW of electricity, contributing approximately 230 GWh annually. This output meets 5–6% of Namibia’s electricity demand, reducing dependence on imports from South Africa, which currently provide 60–70% of Namibia’s energy. Scheduled for commissioning in July 2025, the wind farm capitalizes on the Lüderitz region's average wind speeds exceeding 9 m/s.
Future Implications:
By enhancing existing infrastructure with efficient solutions like Nabrabase, Namibia could further optimize renewable energy projects and reduce import reliance. If similar upgrades are adopted across the region, the country might achieve improved energy sustainability by 2025.
