Nigeria’s KEDCO Begins Offtake From Haske Plant

Key Figures & Findings: Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has commenced offtake of power from the Haske Solar Plant in the Challawa Industrial Cluster, Kano State. The agreement was formalized under a Power Purchase Agreement with Haske Solar Company Ltd. The project was initiated by the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority and managed by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated. KEDCO Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, emphasized that the deal supports the utility’s efforts to improve electricity delivery across Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states. Executives from MOFI and Future Energies Africa also witnessed the signing, underscoring the collaboration between state institutions and private players.
Statistics & Insights: The Haske facility's Power is dispatched through KEDCO’s Abattoir Injection Substation and supplied to industrial customers via NBC 11kV and Ceramic 11kV lines.
Future Implications: If maintained effectively, the agreement could enhance grid efficiency and strengthen supply to industrial clusters in northern Nigeria by 2026. It may also serve as a template for integrating more solar projects into the country’s distribution network.
