Qair’s 178MW Morocco Project Approved

Key Figures & Findings: Qair,, an independent French renewable energy producer with a growing footprint across Africa, has secured ministerial approval for two renewable energy projects in Morocco: a 108MW wind farm in Tetouan and a 70MW solar PV plant in Tiznit. The projects were approved by Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transition under Law 13-09. The combined capacity will help avoid over 334,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. These approvals mark a shift in Qair’s regional strategy from self-consumption models to industrial-scale projects.
Statistics & Insights: The Tetouan wind farm is expected to be operational by 2029 with an annual output of 390GWh, while the Tiznit solar project, to be commissioned in late 2027, will generate 115GWh per year. And a total of 178MW with 505GWh annual production.
Future Implications: If timelines are met, Qair’s Morocco projects could help in strengthening Morocco’s medium-voltage industrial supply network while aligning with national energy diversification targets. It could also collectively improve regional grid stability and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
