Rwanda, China Launch Solar Training Hub

Key Figures & Findings: Beijing Forever Technology has launched a small-scale photovoltaic (PV) power station at the Forever TVET Institute in Kigali, Rwanda, to support clean energy adoption and technical education. the Chinese-funded facility combines solar generation, battery storage, charging infrastructure, and smart grid management in a single integrated system. Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure welcomed the project as a symbol of green cooperation and a tool for technical training.
Insights: The hybrid PV system includes real-time energy management capabilities and serves as both a renewable energy source and an educational lab. Since inception, the institute has supported local workforce development and bilateral partnerships between Rwanda and China.
Future Implications: If scaled across other institutions, this model could accelerate technical skills training, enhance energy self-reliance, and strengthen clean power infrastructure by 2027. The microgrid approach may also inform national policies on campus-based energy independence.
