Spark+ Backs Altech’s Clean Cooking Expansion in DRC

Key Figures & Findings: Spark+ Africa Funda, a pioneering impact fund focusing on clean and modern energy access in Africa,  has committed $3 million to Altech Group a significant player in the renewable energy sector, focusing on expanding access to clean and affordable energy solutions for off-grid and low-income households in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This investment, granted over 48 months, will enable Altech to expand its clean cooking initiatives. With a distribution network of over 3,500 solar ambassadors and six planned assembly facilities in key cities like Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, Altech aims to supply improved cookstoves to low-income households across the DRC.
Statistics & Insights: The funding will empower Altech to produce over 30,000 cookstoves monthly, benefiting 1 million households. The clean cooking push addresses critical needs in a country where millions lack access to safe cooking alternatives, creating substantial health and environmental challenges.

Future Implications: If this initiative proceeds as planned, Altech could significantly reduce household reliance on traditional fuels, mitigating health and environmental risks. The collaboration with Spark+ Africa Funda may also attract further investment for similar clean energy projects across the region by 2028.
