Sturdee and Indongo Advance Solar Projects

Key Figures & Findings: Sturdee Energy, a prominent independent power producer, has joined forces with the Frans Indongo Group a prominent diversified investment company based in Namibia to launch two solar projects in Mariental and Kokerboom, Namibia. Each site will deliver 10 MW of renewable energy capacity, culminating in 20 MW collectively. Supported by an investment of $27.98 million, with RMB Namibia serving as the lead arranger, these projects are set to bolster Namibia’s energy sector.
Statistics & Insights: The projects are expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 56,354 tons annually and cater to the growing energy demands of Namibia’s urbanizing population. This marks a significant step toward industrialization and sustainable energy supply in Southern Africa.
Future Implications: These solar projects could establish Namibia as a clean energy model in Southern Africa, reducing dependence on fossil fuels while meeting growing electricity needs. By 2025, this partnership may pave the way for similar investments in renewable energy across the region.
